To work properly, Zaptec Sense must be connected to the internet. This is first done during installation using the Zaptec app. The network doesn't need to be the same as the one your charger uses.
Check which model you have
There are three types of Zaptec Sense. Each is made for a specific type of energy meter connection.
Connection type | Internet options |
---|---|
RS485 | Wi-Fi 2.4GHz or Ethernet |
RJ45 port (HAN port) | Wi-Fi 2.4GHz |
RJ45 port (P1 port) | Wi-Fi 2.4GHz |
Internet requirements
- Minimum signal strength: at least -75 dBm per charging station.
- Wi-Fi standard: 2.4GHz, IEEE 802.11 b / g / n (static channels 1 to 11).

If Zaptec Sense goes offline
If Zaptec Sense loses connection, it automatically reduces charging current to the minimum power (6A) to avoid overloading your system. You can change the minimum power in the Zaptec Portal.
