Keeping your charging cable secure is simple with Zaptec. Here’s how to lock (and unlock) your cable using the Zaptec App or Zaptec Portal, so you never have to worry about someone unplugging your cable when you’re not looking.
Why lock the cable?
Locking your cable means it stays attached to your charging station, even if the power goes out or you set your charger to stand-alone mode. Only you, as the owner, can unlock it. This keeps your cable safe and ready for your next charge.
How to lock the cable in the Zaptec App
- Log in with your Zaptec account.
- Find your charging station on the Dashboard.
- Tap the Lock icon to enable the function.
The cable is now locked to your charging station and can't be removed until unlocked.
To unlock: Tap the toggle again so it turns grey. If this doesn’t work, restart your charger and try again.
You must be the owner of the charging station to lock or unlock the cable in the Zaptec App or Portal. If you don’t see this option, check your account permissions.
How to lock the cable in Zaptec Portal
- Log in to the Zaptec Portal.
- Find the charging station under the Chargers tab.
- Go to Settings.
- Click Lock cable to charging station and Save.
To unlock: Uncheck the box so it turns grey. If this doesn’t work, restart your charger and try again.
What happens if the power goes out?
The cable stays locked, even if the charging station loses power or is set to stand-alone mode.
When power returns, it briefly unlocks the cable, then locks it again automatically.
