How to transfer your Zaptec charging station when you move

This guide is for current owners or installers who are moving out or selling their charging station and want to transfer their Zaptec charging station to the new owner. This also ensures the new owner can set it up easily and keeps your personal data secure.

 



Option 1: Transfer access to the new owner

If you’re okay with the new owner keeping your settings and history, you can transfer access to them.

  1. Log in to the Zaptec App and select your charging station. 
  2. Tap the key icon (Access), then + Add access. 
  3. Enter the new owner's email address.
    • If they don't have a Zaptec account, an invite will be sent. 
  4. Check the boxes for Owner and User to give them full access, then tap Save.
  5. To remove yourself, go to Access, find your name, and click the three dots. Tap Remove access Yes

The new owner will get an email once their account is activated. They’ll then have full control of the charging station and installation.

If you want to remove your charging history, go to Option 2 before transferring access.

 



Option 2: Remove all data and start fresh

If you want the charging station to be completely reset, you'll need to delete it before handing it over to the new owner. 

  1. Log in to the Zaptec Portal (same credentials as for the Zaptec App). 
  2. Go to Chargers and select your charging station.

  3. Under Settings, click the Deactivate button in the bottom right corner, and click OK

  4. Once deactivated, you can remove the serial number from the field. Click Save again

  5. Delete your access: Go to the Permissions tab (either on the charger or installation level) and click the trashcan icon next to your name. Confirm to delete your access to the charging station.

If your charging station is part of a shared parking facility, ask the administrator or building owner what steps you should take before making changes.

 


 

Which option should you choose?

  • Option 1: If you don’t mind the new owner having access to your charging station's current setup and data, transfer access and remove yourself.
  • Option 2: If you want the charging station to be fresh with no data attached, delete it before removing yourself.

By taking these steps, you ensure a smooth transition for the new owner while keeping your personal data safe.
