This guide is for authorised installers and covers how to install, configure, and activate the Zaptec Go 2 charging station. If you would like more details, please download the installation manual here.
1. Mount and connect the Zaptec Go 2
IT 3-phase: The Zaptec Go 2 only charges on 1-phase on IT grids. While it can be wired for IT 3-phase, it will only use a single phase for charging. We recommend wiring it for IT 1-phase.
Requirement
Zaptec Go 2 requires an upstream circuit breaker and a Type A RCD (30mA) for AC ground fault protection. Although it has a built-in 6mA DC fault protection, a 30mA Type A RCD is still required for each circuit.
Follow these steps:
- Remove the front cover of the charging station.
- Choose the cable entry: Bottom (recommended), top, or back. Remove the hole blank.
-
Run the power cable (max 6mm²) through your chosen entry point.
For 32A installations, use input wire cross-section of 6mm². - Mount the unit using the four T20 screws. Ensure it's straight and at the correct height.
- Secure the cable with the cable clamp.
- Remove the terminal cover by pressing the retaining tab and pulling it downward.
- Strip 12mm of insulation from each wire (ferrules optional).
- Insert the wires into the terminals and press down all levers to secure them.
- Replace the terminal cover.
- Turn on the power.
The light will turn orange, indicating it's powered and ready for configuration. A QR code will appear on the display for configuration in the Zaptec App.
2. Configure Zaptec Go 2 in the app
Download the Zaptec app from App Store and Google Play. Log in with your Zaptec-certified installer account for full setup features (like customer handover, Zaptec Sense, and registration of the charging station in the Zaptec Portal).
In the Zaptec App:
- Dashboard > Tap the three-dot icon > Install a product.
- Select Zaptec Go > scan the QR code displayed on the charging station or use the printed QR code on the PIN sticker. Ensure the charger is powered on and Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
If scanning fails, tap the three-dot (⋯) symbol > Select device from the list > Choose the charger's serial number.
- Tap Install Zaptec Go > Enter the PIN if prompted to (found on the drilling sheet or the user manual
- Select the connectivity: Wi-Fi or 4G LTE-M.
-
Choose the country and incoming grid type (e.g., TN 1 or 3-phase, or IT grid 1-phase). The charger will automatically attempt to detect the appropriate grid type(s) for you, which will be shown as "Recommended".
-
Specify the number of phases (1 or 3) and phase rotation.
If "Charging station phase" is set to 3-phase, you need to specify phase rotation, and if you want to lock it to 1-phase charging or not.
The owner can enable 1-phase charging themselves under Advanced settings.
- Confirm the circuit breaker rating and maximum charging current for the circuit supplying the charger.
-
Check for a white light on the charging station and test its functionality.
-
If you want, activate the Zaptec Go for the customer by tapping Activate now, or tap Activate later.
3. Activate the Zaptec Go 2 for the customer
To activate the Zaptec Go 2, you'll need the PIN for security and owner's email address.
- From the summary screen, tap Activate charger (or find it in the Dashboard menu).
- Enter the PIN code.
- Add location details (the street name will be used to identify the installation in the Zaptec Portal).
- If the charging station shares power with an existing Zaptec Go, tap Link to an existing installation > Choose the existing setup.
- If you can't find the existing setup, ask the owner to give you access using your service partner Lookup Key.
- Enter the owner's email (Ensure that the information is correct, as it cannot be changed later). Owners without a Zaptec account will get an email to register; existing users will get a notification in the app.
- By default, it's your own Service Partner group. If you're installing on behalf of another Service Partner, invite them instead. Tap Partner and enter their Lookup Key.
- Name the charging station (or keep the default serial number) > Tap Done to register in the Zaptec Portal.
- After setup, the QR code will disappear, and the charging station will display MID mode for 30 seconds before switching to normal mode.
Install multiple Zaptec Go charging stations
- Max 3 charging stations per installation (Go and Go 2 can be mixed).
- Each charging station requires its own circuit breaker and RCD Type A mounted in front, ensuring all circuit breakers for the charging circuits have the same rating.
- The charging stations communicate via cloud connection.
Setup:
- Install and configure each as above.
- To enable load sharing when activating additional chargers, tap Link to an existing installation (during activation step 3) and select the installation used by the initial charger.
- For 3-phase installation, specify the incoming phase (L1, L2, or L3) in the app.
