Zaptec Pro charging stations are designed for large-scale installations, such as parking garages, workplaces, or apartment buildings. The way you start charging depends on how the station is set up.
Some installations use the Zaptec system, while others are managed by third-party providers.
Before you begin
Find out how the charger is managed. This affects how you can start charging.
Options:
-
Authenticate using the Zaptec app.
-
Use an RFID key or card registered in the Zaptec system.
-
Pay using a third-party app or QR code.
-
Use an RFID key or card linked to a payment system.
-
Contact your building administrator or provider.
Look for signs, stickers, or QR codes on the charging station for instructions specific to that location.
Step 1: Plug in your car
- Plug in your car to the charging station.
- If the charger is open, charging will start automatically.
If authentication is required, continue to Step 2.
Step 2: Authenticate or pay (depending on system setup)
How you start charging depends on the method used for that installation.
Look for instructions on or near the charging station. There are two main types of options.
1. If the charger uses the Zaptec system
You can authenticate in one of two ways:
Option A: Authenticate with the Zaptec app
If you're both the owner and user of the charging station:
- Open the Zaptec app.
- Connect your car.
- Tap the Authenticate button that shows up under the Zaptec Pro.
- The light turns blue when charging begins.
If you're registered as a user and not the owner of the charging station:
- Open the Zaptec app.
- Go to Access to other chargers on the dashboard.
- Tap Authenticate.
- Find and connect to the charging station via Bluetooth.
The light will turn blue when charging starts.
You must be added as a user on the charger to authenticate. Ownership alone is not enough.
Option B: Use a Zaptec-registered RFID key
- Connect your car.
- Tap the registered RFID card on the reader area of the charger.
- Wait for the light to turn blue.
If the light stays yellow, your card might not have access. It needs to be linked to an account with access to the charger (this could be your own or maybe a shared account).
2. If the charger is managed by a third-party provider
Some installations are connected to external services like Monta, EasyPark, PlugPay, or others.
In these cases, Zaptec app or Zaptec-registered RFID tags won't work.
How to start charging:
- Follow the instructions shown at the charging station (e.g., scan a QR code, use an RFID tag, or open a third-party app).
- Authenticate and pay as instructed by the system.
- Charging starts when payment or authentication is confirmed.
Not sure which third-party service to use?
Look for a logo, app name, or instructions on the charger itself.
Understanding the light signals
| Light | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 🔵 Flashing blue | Charging in progress |
| 🟡 Yellow | Waiting for authentication |
| 🟢 Green | Authentication successful or charging complete. |
| 🔴 Red | Authentication failed or error detected. |
Stopping the charging
To stop charging:
- Unplug your car from the charger, or
- Use the Zaptec app or third-party app, depending on which system you used to start the session.
If authentication was required to start charging, you may need to authenticate again to resume charging.
