How to connect Zaptec Go to 4G LTE-M

To make the most of your Zaptec Go, we recommend connecting it to the internet. Either via Wi-Fi or 4G LTE-M. This gives you access to all the features, such as remote management, updates, settings, and scheduling.

If Wi-Fi is unavailable, Zaptec Go will automatically switch to 4G LTE-M (if coverage is available in your area). While the charger works without an internet connection, internet access ensures the best experience. Want to connect to Wi-Fi? Check out our Wi-Fi guide here.

  Note for the UK:

Zaptec Go uses 4G LTE-M (CAT-M1). LTE-M currently covers about half of the UK, so Wi-Fi is recommended for better reliability.

Connect to 4G LTE-M using the Zaptec app

Zaptec Go has a built-in 4G LTE-M eSIM, which connects automatically when powered on. LTE-M is designed for low-power IoT devices, offering reliable connectivity even in areas where regular signals may be weak.

Here's how to connect to 4G LTE-M:

  1. Open the Zaptec app and go to the Dashboard.
  2. Find your charging station and tap the settings (gear) icon.
  3. In Advanced Settings, connect via Bluetooth using the PIN code.
  4. Scroll down to Network Settings and tap Connect to 4G.
  5. Tap Save to complete the setup.

Thats it! Your Zaptec Go will now use 4G LTE-M as the communication method.

Things to keep in mind with 4G LTE-M

  • Coverage: Make sure your location has 4G LTE-M coverage. Check local coverage maps or test with another Zaptec Go (if you are not the installer, you might want to ask them for assistance).
  • Placement matters: For best signal, avoid installing the charging stations in signal-blocking areas like behind thick walls or in a closed garage). Try opening the garage door to test signal quality.
  • Compatibility:
    • Zaptec Go works supports 4G LTE-M (CAT-M1)
    • 2G/3G networks are not supported.
  • Note for the UK: Zaptec Go uses 4G LTE-M (CAT-M1). LTE-M currently covers about half of the UK, so Wi-Fi is recommended for better reliability.

Changing network settings without owner access

  1. In the app, tap the three-dot icon (top-right corner).
  2. Select Configure products.
  3. Connect to the charger via Bluetooth using the PIN code.
  4. You can now adjust the network settings - including switching to 4G.
