Starting and stopping charging with the Zaptec app is straightforward, ensuring you have control over your charging sessions. If your installation or charge point involves a third-party integration, please note that the following step-by-step guide may not apply to your situation.
Start and stop charging - Public Access
If authentication is not required at the charge point, charging will automatically start when your vehicle is connected to the charger. Once connected, you will see your charging screen in the Zaptec app, allowing you to monitor the estimated kWh your car has charged.
To end charging, simply disconnect the vehicle or tap Pause charging. If you wish to resume charging later, you can tap Resume charging.
The status indicator light will start flashing blue when charging has started and shift to green upon completion. For Zaptec Go, the light will turn white when the car is fully charged.
Start and stop charging - Restricted Access
For charge points requiring internal authentication, users must identify themselves before charging, either via a registered RFID key or the Zaptec app. After successful authentication, users can start and pause charging within the Zaptec app, regardless of the identification method used.
To start charging in the Zaptec app
- Under Home, find your charger in the dashboard.
- Tap Authenticate if you wish to use your phone for authorization. Hold your phone up against the Zaptec device to connect to it. Please note that the Authentication button will not be visible when the car is not connected.
- When authorization is complete charging will start and the light will switch to blue.
To end or pause the charging session, just tap Pause charging. You can resume charging later by tapping Start charging again, without requiring re-authentication.
Start and stop charging - Eco Mode
If you wish to start a session before the scheduled time, tap Start charging under Home in the app. To pause or stop a session, tap Pause charging.
