Zaptec chargers which support dynamic phase balancing ensure the most efficient use of energy when charging. The technology will distribute the available energy between the connected cars, and balance the power on each phase.
3 to 1- phase switch current
The 3 to 1-phase switch current function is used to set a limit for the switch from 3 to 1-phase charging. You'll need to have owner permission on the installation to do this.
How to adjust it:
- Log into the Zaptec Portal.
- Go to Settings > Power management > 3 to 1-phase switch current.
Example:
Let’s say your system has 32 amps (A) available:
- If two cars are charging, each gets 16A, and both can use 3-phase charging.
- If a third car plugs in, the system needs to share the energy. It might switch to 1-phase charging to give each car enough power.
- If you set the switch current to 10A, all three cars would still use 3-phase charging.
Note:
Some cars don’t support 3-phase charging. For those, keeping the setting at the default (15A) is usually better—they’ll get more power in 1-phase mode.
What is max phases setting?
This setting limits how many phases the charing station uses.
How to adjust it:
- Log in to the Zaptec Portal.
- Open the charger's Settings and find the Max phases option.
Example:
If your car doesn’t support 3-phase charging on an IT electrical grid, you can set Max phases to 1. This ensures the charger only uses 1-phase mode, so it’s compatible with your car.
If you're unsure about these settings, don’t worry—your installer or our support team can help!
