Using Tibber with Zaptec

You can connect your Zaptec charger to the Tibber app to enable smart charging. Tibber will automatically optimise your charging based on electricity prices and usage patterns.

Check if your setup is supported

Tibber supports smart charging with private, standalone home units.

Shared charging systems like those in apartment buildings, housing associations or communals parking areas are not supported. This is because smart charging could interfere with other users in a shared setup.

If you have a Zaptec Pro charger installed as a private unit (with your own main fuse and energy mater) contact Zaptec support. We can change your installation type from Pro to Home in the Zaptec Portal allowing you to connect it to Tibber.

How to connect Zaptec with Tibber

  1. Open the Tibber app.
  2. Go to Power-ups in the menu on the main screen of the Tibber app.
  3. Find the Zaptec integration and tap Connect.
  4. If needed, the firmware of your Zaptec charging station will be updated automatically.
  5. Follow the in-app instructions to add Zaptec.

If you receive an error or have a Zaptec Pro charger, contact Tibber support for help.

Confirm the connection

After setup, Tibber takes full control of charging, and you no longer need to manage settings in the Zaptec app. But if you’d like to confirm that Tibber is connected:

  1. Open the Zaptec app.
  2. Tap Access on your dashboard.
  3. Tibber should appear as a connected service.

After setup

Once Zaptec is connected to Tibber:

  • Tibber controls your charging and not the Zaptec app.
  • Any existing Zaptec schedules or settings are overridden by Tibber.
  • Zaptec functions only as a data source for Tibber.
  • You'll manage charging entierly from the Tibber app.
