This is a guide that shows how to share network from a charger over PLC or Wi-Fi. This can be useful if you need to extend the existing network on-site but is not recommended as a temporary solution.
If a number of Zaptec Pro charging stations are being set up with a shared network solution such as Wi-Fi-PLC, this may lead to the Zaptec Pro charging stations swapping between the different PLC communication networks, which may lead to an unstable network connection.
- Sparing use of this network option is recommended, and ideally, only one Zaptec Pro charging station in the installation should be enabled with this network solution.
- Shared network is not available for Zaptec HOME and Zaptec Go.
Sharing network over PLC
In this case you might have one charger with bad Wi-Fi connection and you would like to improve the network by bridging the wifi from another charger over PLC.
The first thing you do is enable shared network over PLC on the charger with good Wi-Fi connection.
Log into the Zaptec app and do the following:
- Go to Home, tap the
icon, choose "Configure product", and then select the charger you want to share network from.
- Enter the PIN code.
- Under Wi-Fi, tap "Share network via PLC", and then select PLC Network to set a new network name. If you're using an Android device with Google apps, please see the linked Youtube video.
- Copy the network key and press "Save".
The next step is to connect the charger with poor connection to the shared PLC network. To do so, please go back into the Zaptec app and repeat step 1 -2. Only this time you should select the charger that needs the network connection.
5. Under PLC, select set network key and paste the network key you just created.
6. Press "Save".
Sharing network over Wi-Fi
Let's say you have an installation with PLC network, but not all chargers have good connection.
In this case you could try to improve the network by sharing internet from one charger to another over Wi-Fi.
The first thing you do is enable shared network over Wi-Fi on the charger with good PLC connection.
Log into the Zaptec app and do the following:
- Go to the "Home" screen in the app, tap the
- Enter the PIN code.
- Under PLC, select "Share network via Wi-Fi", and then set a network name + password.

The next step is to connect the charger with poor connection to the shared Wi-Fi network. To do so, please go back into the Zaptec app and repeat step 1 -2 . Only this time you should select the charger that needs the network connection.
5. Under Wi-Fi, tap Wi-Fi Network and choose the network you just created.
6. Enter the password and click on Save.
