This guide shows you how to share a network connection from a charging station using PLC (Power Line Communication) or Wi-Fi. This can help extend the network on-site, but it’s not recommended as a long-term solution.
When using multiple Zaptec Pro chargers with a shared network (via PLC or Wi-Fi), the chargers might switch between different networks, causing an unstable connection. For better performance, it’s best to only use one Zaptec Pro charger with this setup.
Note:
Shared network is not available for Zaptec HOME and Zaptec Go.
Sharing network via PLC
If you have one charger with a poor Wi-Fi connection, you can improve the network by sharing the Wi-Fi from another charger using PLC. Here's how to do it:
-
Enable shared network over PLC on the charger with a good Wi-Fi:
- Open the Zaptec app.
- From the Dashboard, tap the
icon and choose Configure product.
- Select the charger you want to share network from and enter the PIN code.
-
Under Wi-Fi > Share network via PLC > select PLC Network to set a new network name.
(If you're using an Android device with Google apps, please see the linked Youtube video.) - Copy the network key and tap Save.
-
Connect the charger with poor Wi-Fi to the shared PLC network:
- Go back to the Zaptec app.
- Follow the same steps (Dashboard> Configure product) but select the charger that needs the network connection.
- Under PLC, select set network key and paste the network key you copied earlier.
- Tap Save.

Sharing network via Wi-Fi
If you have a PLC network but some charging stations have poor connection, you can share the internet from one charger to another over Wi-Fi.
-
Enable shared network over Wi-Fi on the charger with a good PLC:
- Open the Zaptec app.
- From the Dashboard, tap the
icon and choose Configure product.
- Select the charger you want to share network from and enter the PIN code.
-
Under PLC > Share network via Wi-FI > set a network name and password.
(If you're using an Android device with Google apps, please see the linked Youtube video.) - Tap Save.
-
Connect the charger with poor PLC to the shared Wi-Fi network:
- Go back to the Zaptec app.
- Follow the same steps (Dashboard> Configure product) but select the charger that needs the network connection.
- Under Wi-Fi, tap Wi-Fi network and choose the network you just created.
- Enter the password and tap Save.
