How to start charging at a Zaptec Pro charging station

Zaptec Pro charging stations are designed for shared or large-scale installations, such as parking garages, workplaces, or apartment buildings. Starting a charging session is straightforward, but the process might differ depending on how the station is set up. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get started.

Before you begin

  1. Check access requirements:
    • Some Zaptec Pro stations require authentication (e.g., RFID tags or mobile apps).
    • Ensure you have access permissions. If you’re unsure, contact the site administrator or building owner.
  2. Third-Party Systems:
    • If a third-party system or payment operator controls the station, follow their specific instructions for access.

Step-by-step guide to start charging with Zaptec Pro

  1. Plug in your EV
    1. Plug the cable into your car, then into the charging station.

  2. Authenticate (If required)
If the charging station flashes yellow it means it is awaiting authentication:
    • RFID Card or Key: Tap your RFID card/key on the station’s reader.
    • Zaptec app: Use the app to start a session. Open the app, find your charger, and select Authenticate.
    • Third-Party App: If the station is managed by a third party, open their app and follow the instructions to authenticate and begin charging.

  3. Charging starts automatically
    • Once authenticated, the station will start charging.

    • The status indicator will flash green once authentication is approved and switch to blue when charging has started.

If the status indicator is flashing red, see the Troubleshooting section for further details.
