In Norway, there are three different electricity systems:
- TN 400V
- IT 230V
- TT 230V
IT and TT networks are rare globally, leading car manufacturers to deprioritize them. Zaptec offers a firmware and software update to enable three-phase charging on IT and TT networks at 230 volts, ensuring accurate power measurement across all phases.
How to activate 3-phase charging on IT network
The administrator of the charging facility can enable prioritized three-phase charging at your station via Zaptec Porta.
- Log in to the Zaptec Portal.
- Select the charging station for three-phase activation.
- Go to the Settings tab of the station.
- Change the Max phases setting from 1 to 3 and click Save.
Next time a car is connected for charging, it will be assigned three phases.
The onboard charger in the car determines phase utilization and charging speed (kW). If you're unsure whether your car supports three-phase charging on IT/TT networks, activating this feature may unexpectedly affect charging speed. In that case, we recommend waiting before enabling it.
