How to install Zaptec Pro T2S (France)

This guide is for qualified personnel and explains how to set up, install, and configure the Zaptec Pro T2S charging station.

To add installations and charging stations to the Zaptec Portal, your Zaptec account must be connected to a Zaptec user group with service access. This requires completing our technical training to become a certified installer. Learn more about Zaptec Academy here or contact support for assistance.

1. Prepare installation in the Zaptec Portal

Before physical installation, register the charging stations in the Zaptec Portal. This ensures the device can connect to the cloud after installation. Learn more here.

  1. Log in to the Zaptec Portal with your installer account.
  2. Create an installation, circuits and chargepoints or add the charging station to the relevant installation.

2. Install the Zaptec Pro T2S

Required tools:

  • 8mm socket wrench
  • 7mm socket wrench
  • 4mm Allen key
  • T10 Torx screwdriver

1. Installing and connecting the backplate

  1. Mount the back plate. If the wall structure requires plugs/drilling, you must ensure that dust and dirt do not get into the junction box. It is important not to create any new holes in the back plate. The four existing holes must be used. Creating new holes in the back plate will invalidate the warranty.
  2. Remove the cover on the junction box. Undo four screws and open the cover to access the junction box.
    • Zaptec Pro T2S is overvoltage category 3 (OVCIII). Please do not install it directly in high-voltage/low-voltage transformers and distribution rooms or in a low-voltage switchboard room supplied by a high-voltage transformer.
    • Screw requirement: Head max 12mm diameter, Head max height 6mm, length min 25mm.

2. Connect the wires

  1. Connect the cables in the junction box in accordance with the electrical system at the location.
    • Torque: Tighten the terminal blocks to a torque of 5 Nm.
    • Cable: Input cable cross-section 2.5 to 10 mm².
    • Outdoor installations: Connect the cable at the bottom of the junction box, to limit the risk of leaks in outdoor installations. If this isn't possible, we recommend using a sealant such as Sikaflex.

Zaptec recommends, whenever possible, having a three-phase connection to benefit from the energy management provided by our solutions.

3. Install upstream connection

  • Each Zaptec Pro T2S charging station must be individually protected by a 40A-rated omnipolar magnetic and thermal circuit breaker, with a breaking capacity and C-tripping curve, and by a Type A differential device with a sensitivity of 30mA . These two types of protection can be combined in one device.
  • Zaptec Pro T2S is equipped with a 6mA RDC-DD according to IEC 62955 to complement the upstream type A RCCB/RCBO.

4. Test the installation

  • Before you screw the junction box cover on the backplate, a voltage test must be carried out on all back plates.
  • Test the installation directly on the terminal screws using a multimeter.
  • Please note: Do not insert test probes, wires, or anything else into the quick-release connector on the backplate as it will be damaged by this.

5. Screw on the junction box cover

  1. Seal the unused cable entry using the blanking plug supplied. Tighten strain relief nuts on the blanking plug and cable until secure. Place the cable seal over the cable entry in order to seal it properly. The cable seal must be pulled down towards the junction box and then pushed all the way down so that the cone ends up in the correct position. Visually check that the seal has a good sealing surface.
  2. Screw on the junction box cover. The junction box screws must be tightened to a torque of 0.7 Nm.

6. Remove the front cover on the charging station

  • Remove the front cover using the SmartKey.
  • To remove the front cover on a charging station mounted on a Zaptec Column, you must use a SmartKey Column (supplied with the column).

7. Install the charging station

  1. Position the charging station on the back plate so that there is no gap between them.
  2. Tighten the charging station using the four supplied nuts. The nuts must be tightened to a torque of 3 Nm.
  3. Fit the front cover, by starting at the bottom, positioning the cover over the Type 2 port, and then clicking in place at the top.
  4. Please note that the power supply must be turned off when mounting the charging station on the back plate.

8. Power up the installation and test the charging station

  1. Switch on the power supply to the installation. The yellow status indicator means that the system is performing internal checks. Confirm that the status indicator changes from yellow to green after 2–3 minutes.
  2. Test the built-in RDC-DD according to IEC 62955 with suitable test equipment.
  3. Carry out a test using an electric vehicle, test load, or Mode 3 test equipment.
  4. Perform any other tests according to local regulations and requirements.

If you are not installing the charging station directly after mounting the backplate, please apply the adhesive sticker to protect the connections.

Installation notes

Do not daisy chain the chargers

The backplate is rated for a 63A connection, but not for 63A feedthrough.

Do not rotate the phases on the backplates

Connect all backplates the same way. When installing Zaptec Pro charging stations, do not rotate the phases on the backplate (L1, L2, L3); this could cause the fuse to trip and the load and phase balancing to work incorrectly.

  • Correct: No phase rotation. Connections are the same on each backplate.
  • Incorrect: Phases are rotated. Connections are different.

Always connect all three phases if they are available.

3. Configure Zaptec Pro T2S in the Zaptec App

  1. Open the Zaptec App and log in with your installer account.
  2. Under Dashboard, tap on the three-dot icon and choose Configure products.
  3. Enter the PIN code and follow the instructions to:
    • Connect the charging station to the network.
    • Confirm the power grid.

If the charging station does not connect, review the network setup in the installation manual under Internet and Network Requirements, or learn more here.

4. Add the installation owner

In the Zaptec Portal, assign the installation owner to the newly created installation. Now the owner has access to manage and monitor the charging station(s).

Learn more about the portal configuration here.
